Kilroy: Privacy Policy

Overview

Kilroy ("the App") is an augmented reality painting app that lets you draw on the sky. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the App collects and how it is used.

Data We Collect

• Camera: The App uses your device camera to display a live AR view of the sky. Camera images are processed on-device only. The only exception is the moderation report flow described below. When you choose to report a mural, a single JPEG snapshot of your current sky view (camera background + visible strokes) is uploaded so a moderator can review what you saw.
• Location: The App uses your device's GPS coordinates to anchor paintings to specific sky tiles so they can be shared with nearby users. Location data is sent to our server only as tile coordinates (not precise location) and is not used to track or identify you.
• Painting Data: Brush strokes you create (color, size, path coordinates, and tile position) are stored on our server so other users can see shared artwork.
• Anonymous Device ID: The App generates a random identifier stored locally on your device. This ID is used solely to associate your strokes with your device. It is not linked to your name, email, or any personal information.

Data We Do Not Collect

• No names, email addresses, or account information
• No camera recordings or continuous photo capture
• No contacts, call logs, or messages
• No advertising identifiers, no ads, and no behavioral tracking (crash/diagnostic reporting is described below)
• No financial or payment information

Moderation and Reports

To keep the shared sky safe, the App provides a way to report offensive content. When you tap the report (🚩) icon and submit a report, the App collects:

• A single JPEG screenshot of your current sky view (camera background + visible strokes), so a human moderator can see what you saw.
• Your anonymous device ID, the reason you selected, and any optional note you typed.
• The anonymous device IDs of the painters whose strokes were visible in your view at the moment you reported.

This data is uploaded only when you actively submit a report. The screenshot is stored in a private bucket and is accessible only to the moderator. Reported content is hidden immediately pending human review; a report that is not upheld is automatically dismissed within 7 days.

You can also block specific painters from your view via the "Blocked painters" screen. Blocking is local to your device. The list of painters you have blocked is never sent to our servers.

Third-Party Services

The App uses Supabase for data storage and synchronization; Supabase processes the painting, tile, report, and screenshot data described above. In release builds the App also uses Sentry for crash reporting and performance diagnostics; Sentry receives crash reports and technical device data (such as device model, OS version, and screen/camera-lens metrics) but no name, email, or painting location. Both act as service providers on our instructions. We do not sell data or share personal information with any other third party.

Data Retention

Painting data is retained on our servers to provide the shared sky mural experience. Moderation data has shorter retention windows:

• Report screenshots are deleted 90 days after the report is resolved.
• Reports themselves are deleted 1 year after resolution.
• Strokes that were removed by a moderator are deleted 90 days after removal (30 days for content removed under our most severe categories).

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since no personal information is collected from any user, the App is suitable for all ages.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
